QUEEN URE AND CYNTHIA MORGAN BATTLE OVER WHO INVENTED THE WORD "POPORI"

mg

Cynthia Morgan has now come out to tell Saturday Beats that she’s not afraid of Queen Ure.

Cynthia said she’s not ready to change the title of the song “Popori” because it does not belong to anyone and she’s getting ready to drop the video for the song.

Cythia said:-

“My song, Popori, is still out and I am shooting the video for it very soon.

Ure does not have anything on me and I don’t have any case with her. Popori is my song.

I produced the song and came up with the title. I am from Edo State and I have been hearing the word Popori from my childhood.

It was funny when she said that she was the one that invented the word popori and holds the copyright.

She cannot even use a copyright for the word. If she had told me that she trademarked the word, then it would have been a separate thing.

Even if she trademarked the word, our songs have two different spellings.

“So if she takes the case to a court, I am sure they would say she is being funny.

It is just as I bear Cynthia and I decide to trademark the name if someone else spells hers as ‘Synthia;’ I cannot sue the person because they are two different spellings.

It is funny to me because it is like someone saying they invented the word love and no one else should use it.

I don’t have any problem with Ure and I am not scared of her. We don’t have any case.

If everyone should do what she did to me, then it means my fellow artistes would be suing themselves over songs like Azonto, Shoki, Caro, and the likes.

I think it is a funny situation. Instead of her being a ‘hater,’ she should be supporting the newer generations of artistes and feel proud that I used the word, popori. It doesn’t even make sense to me”.

MAN ARRESTED IN ABIA FOR SELLING HIS BABY FOR 300K TO A HERBALIST

The police in Abia state have arrested George Maduabuchi pictured above for allegedly selling his 14 month old son for N300,000 to a herbalist. According to a report by Punch, George, a native of Owerrinta in the Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State had connived with his accomplice, one Obinna Erondu who is now at large, to sell his own child

Narrating how her son was allegedly sold by her husband, Ebere, the pregnant wife of George said after her child had developed cough, her husband had asked to take him out to get some medicine only for him not to return with the boy. When she asked the man where their son was, he couldn’t give her a good explanation. She said she quickly raised an alarm which attracted their neighbors who called the police.

“When I demanded explanations on the whereabouts of our son, he could not offer any convincing answer.” she said

Confirming her statement, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joshak Habila said; “Luck ran out on Maduabuchi when the wife alerted the police on his questionable role when the baby fell ill and he took him out and did not return with him.”.

When interrogated, the suspect denied selling his son but says he took him to a herbalist who offered to cure him and also gave him some money

“The herbalist gave me money and told me that he could not heal the baby. I therefore left the baby in the herbalist’s home.”he said

The police is still investigating the matter. wonders shall never.

12 FOODS THAT WILL NATURALLY WHITEN YOUR TEETH

strawberries

They may be bright red, but malic acid, a chief component of this summery fruit, acts as a natural astringent to remove surface tooth discoloration, says Dr. Irwin Smigel, president of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics. Fresh, juicy strawberries taste great in any meal— -- salads, desserts, cereal— -- and are widely available at farmers markets, so getting your daily dose is both simple and delicious.

Seeds and nuts

Chewing these lightly abrasive, hard foods rubs plaque and stains off the surface of teeth, says Dr. Matthew Messina, a spokesperson for the American Dental Association. Pop a few almonds for a mid-afternoon snack—they're full of protein, healthy fats, and the crunch you need to get pearly whites.

Onions

Although they may not be the ideal pre-date snack, the notoriously bad-for-breath alliums could be beneficial to teeth. Because they're colorless, they won't cause surface stains, says Messina, adding that after eating them you're more likely to brush—which is a surefire way to get whiter teeth.

Apples

The loud crunch you hear when you bite into this hard fruit may be annoying, but it's also good for your choppers. Apples' crispiness strengthens gums, and their high water content increases saliva production, dispersing and neutralizing colonies of bacteria that lead to bad breath and plaque, says Smigel.

Baking soda

Take a toothpaste break and try brushing with this common ingredient. Baking soda is a base, like bleach, notes Messina, and the "soda"—which is actually a form of salt—in this pantry staple is a mild abrasive that works to scrub off plaque and surface stains.

Celery and carrots

The same high water content that makes these veggies great for your waistline and your health also helps them whiten your teeth by stimulating saliva production, which aids in washing away food debris and strengthening gums, according to Smigel.

Broccoli

Unlike beets and cranberries, this crunchy vegetable doesn't stay stuck to teeth, so it won't cause unsightly surface stains, says Messina. Throw some raw broccoli into your lunch—the florets will scrub the surface of teeth, giving them a brief and natural midday brush.

Cheese
Hard cheese, like the little blocks you get on those delicious appetizer trays, is full of calcium, which strengthens teeth and gums, explains Smigel. Plus, most cheeses are near colorless, meaning they won't stain your teeth. So go ahead, order that cheese plate.

Oranges
This bright fruit contains citrus, an acid that can wear away tooth enamel if ingested in large doses, making teeth whiter—but at a cost, says Messina. So while we don't recommend gulping down bags of oranges in the spirit of a bright smile, a juicy helping once in a while is good for your pearly whites, and thanks to loads of vitamin C, your overall health too.

Water
Drink lots of water to keep your mouth hydrated and your smile bright, advises Smigel, who recommends sipping and swishing between glasses of wine and when eating dark, pigmented foods to prevent staining. However, while water reduces the acidity in your mouth and the resulting damage to your enamel, Dr. Smigel warns against imbibing too much sparkling water, which has greater potential to erode enamel and harm teeth.

Pears
Smigel recommends munching on a pear to neutralize pesky odor-causing and staining bacteria colonies on teeth. Increased saliva production brought on by this sweet, delicious fruit also washes away food debris, leaving teeth clean and sparkling.

Milk and yogurt
These dairy products are teeth superfoods. Their high calcium content strengthens teeth, making enamel healthier and whiter, says Messina. But be warned: Not all calcium-rich foods—like spinach with its dark, stain-causing pigmentation—have the same effect. Chow down on a high-protein Greek yogurt for a snack, or pair after-dinner cookies with a cold glass of milk to get that gleam.

SENATE STALLS OBANIKORO MINISTERIAL CONFIRMATION

•Musiliu-Obanikoro

The Nigerian Senate stepped down the ministerial confirmation hearing for Senator Musiliu Obanikoro today.

The Senate did not give any reason the hearing was suspended or whether it was connected with the several petitions against his nomination.

Obanikoro and his family were sighted at the Senate gallery today, but left after it appeared the hearing has been suspended, tweeted Senator Babafemi Ojudu today.

The embattled former minister of state for defence, had resigned his appointment last year October to contest the governorship seat in Lagos, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He lost to Jimi Agbaje and after initially decrying his loss as a fraud and instituting a legal challenge, he dramatically withdrew his suit in a Federal High Court, in Abuja.

He was subsequently nominated as a minister, by President Goodluck Jonathan.

But the nomination is facing a barrage of criticisms aa Obanikoro is mired in the scandal of working in cahoot with the military to rig the 21 June election in Ekiti state, last year, in favour of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

An audio, documenting the rigging plan, with Brigadier Aliyu Momoh of the Nigerian army has gone viral, further fuelling public resentment against deploying the military for poll duties.

President Goodluck Jonathan has had to reverse his position on the scandal.

He initially dismissed the audio as a fabrication in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. As public anger swelled, he said again in an interview with ThisDay, that investigation of the audio tape by the DSS, has been stalled because the man who recorded it, Captain Sagir Koli, has run out of the country.

Jonathan did not acknowledge that Koli ran away after he sensed danger to his life, by superiors who ordered his arrest. His 15 year old brother was arrested and tortured, after he escaped.

The Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has joined the chorus of demands for a probe into the scandal.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Soyinka asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to work with the international community to conduct the investigation and make the findings of the exercise known to save Nigeria’s democracy.

He said brushing the issue aside as just electoral malpractice approaches criminal subversion and treason.

Mr. Fayose defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate and then governor, Kayode Fayemi, in the election.

The leaked tape captured the voices of Obanikoro, Mr. Fayose, former senator Iyiola Omisore; the Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan; his predecessor, Caleb Olubolade; and army brigadier-general , Aliyu Momoh.

FABIO CANNAVARO SENTENCED TO TEN MONTHS IN PRISON

Former FIFA World Player of the Year (2006), Fabio Cannavaro, 41, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for breaching orders to keep out of his home after it was seized by authorities.

The home of the former Real Madrid defender turned coach was seized after he was accused of tax evasion. The authorities claim he owes over €1m in unpaid taxes. They also seized goods worth about €1million as well as a €180,000 yacht belonging to Cannavaro.

He was arrested after he was caught going for a swim at his home's swimming pool with his wife and brother after breaking the lock authorities had used to lock his home. His brother and wife were also given custodial sentences. All three have appealed and will therefore have their sentences suspended until a final judgment is made.

SWEAR THAT YOU DID NOT VISIT UK'S HOSPITAL FAYOSE TO BUHARI

Fayose asks Buhari
Fayose wants GMB to swear with the holy Quran that he did not visit Uk's hospital.
Fayose who blamed the leadership of APC for not being fair enough to the nation by hiding the health status of the former Military ruler.
In a statement signed in Ado Ekiti yesterday by his Special Assistant on communication and new media,Lere Olayinka said Buhari will never be the president as he would dash the hope of his followers
“Buhari will never be Nigeria president again because some APC stalwarts want tp ride on his back by seizing power at all cost
Fayose ,however clarified that he was not wishing Buhari dead but just to save the country from unnecessary embarrassment
“I wish they can see spiritually what I am talking about that Buhari, despite the hullabaloo will never be president.
” I predicted my return as Ekiti State Governor and I am saying it again that Buhari will never rule Nigeria again.
‪”After President Goodluck Jonathan, there will be a young element in his late 50s from the North that will be Nigeria president. I want to liken this revelation to the story of Elijah and Elisha. I am the Elijah while my followers are Elisha.”
“I owe it a duty to Nigeria and its people to expose the antics of the APC cabal whose only interest is to seize power to further their selfish interests.
‪”Without doubt, it is obvious that these cabal in the APC are trying so hard to deceive Nigerians on Buhari’s health status. That’s the reason they have been using photoshoped pictures to defend their lies on Buhari’s UK trip.

BUHARI WILL NEVER BE NIGERIA PRESIDENT SAYS FAYOSE

AYO FAYOSE 1

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the hope of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seize power in Nigeria, using Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) will be dashed saying; “Buhari will never be Nigeria president again.”
The governor also challenged Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit hospital in the United Kingdom last week.
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said; “I wish they can see spiritually what I am talking about that Buhari, despite the hullabaloo will never be president.
I predicted my return as Ekiti State Governor and I am saying it again that Buhari will never rule Nigeria again.
“After President Goodluck Jonathan, there will be a young element in his late 50s from the North that will be Nigeria president.
I want to liken this revelation to the story of Elijah and Elisha. I am the Elijah while my followers are Elisha.”
While maintaining that he was not wishing Buhari dead, Governor Fayose said; “I owe it a duty to Nigeria and its people to expose the antics of the APC cabal whose only interest is to seize power to further their selfish interests.
“Without doubt, it is obvious that these cabal in the APC are trying so hard to deceive Nigerians on Buhari’s health status. That’s the reason they have been using photoshoped pictures to defend their lies on Buhari’s UK trip.

JEGA CANT GUARANTEE ELECTIONS WILL HOLD MARCH 28TH AFTER MEETING SENATORS

jega

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Attahiru Jega, has told Nigerian federal lawmakers he could not guarantee the 2015 general elections will hold on rescheduled dates in March and April.

At a meeting with Senators Wednesday, Mr. Jega said he could not commit himself to the “sanctity” of March 28 and April 11 – dates for the rescheduled Nigeria’s general elections.

He said the electoral commission could not guarantee aspects of the poll that are beyond its control.

Mr. Jega met with the lawmakers to review the decision to postpone the polls from February.

Under the Nigerian law, a further six-week extension of the elections is possible, a prospect opposed by many Nigerians, the main opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, and the international community.

INEC had said the postponement were necessary for security reasons, as military chiefs had warned against going on with the vote to allow it focus on fighting the terror group, Boko Haram.

But the APC said the delay was instigated by President Goodluck Jonathan, to save him and ruling party from losing the elections to the APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Since announcing the new dates nearly two weeks ago, the commission has declined to clearly confirm that there will be no further delay beyond March 28 and April 11, for presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly polls.

Responding to a question by George Akume, Senate Minority Leader, on the sanctity of the new dates, on Wednesday, Mr. Jega said it was difficult for him to respond, saying he could only give assurances over aspects within the control of INEC.

“That’s a very difficult question to answer. I have said not everything that has to do with the conduct of successful election is within the control of INEC,” Mr. Jega said.

Use of card readers

Mr. Jega also said the commission will go forward with its plan to deploy card readers for the elections.

There have been some concerns, mainly from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, about the plan as Nigerian law prohibits electronic voting.

On Wednesday, while PDP Senators opposed the plan, their APC counterparts welcomed it.

Heineken Lokpobri, a PDP Senator from Bayelsa State and Odion Ugbesa, from Edo State, argued against the use of card readers for the elections, saying it would be illegal.

In his response, Mr. Jega said card readers would only be used for accreditation not actual voting.

He said there was no law forbidding the use of electronic devices for accreditation.

“Card reader is used for accreditation not voting. Voting his defined as dropping of ballot paper into ballot box. Accreditation is essential for integrity of the election,” he said.

“Nothing in the constitution says we should not use electronic device in the process of accreditation. Anybody that is not satisfied can go to court. We have solid ground on that,” he said.

He added that the card readers would curb electoral malpractices, as cloned cards would be detected.

Mr. Jega said INEC will perform a mock test on the card readers.

He said some tests had already been taken in the United States, and will now be tested in the six geopolitical zones.

“The card reader has passed in all the 13 test categories conducted in terms of its durability and versatility,” he said.

Mr. Jega said the postponement of the general elections will enable INEC to have a flawless, near-perfect elections.

INEC National Commissioners are to visit state offices to conduct evaluation and comprehensively determine the level of preparation in the election.

He said after the visit, the commission will meet with the heads of departments and directorates of units to conduct a comprehensive assessment, to figure out additional things to be done before March 28.

Mr Jega said a meeting with the inter-agency committee on security will hold a meeting to discuss security on the Election Day.

REPORTER FROM BOMB EXPLOSION AT RIVERS ON THE FLOOR WHILE STILL ON AIR

The Channels TV reporter was reporting from the Rivers state APC campaign rally this afternoon when explosions went off and the guy quickly docked but continued reporting. Very brave of him, but trust Nigerians and their reaction to this. This guy is actually passionate about this work.

Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that it wasn't an explosion, just fireworks from mischief makers.
